Ethical water
On the back of its introduction to Australia in January, One water is being distributed nationally by G&K Fine Foods – we have taken up the quest to make the world a better place.
One water is sourced from northern New South Wales but the concept is the by-product of a group of friends in Britain trying to make a difference to the one billion people around the world that do not have access to clean drinking water. Their company, Global Ethics, donates every last drop of its profits to installing water pumping systems into villages across Africa and Asia, and they really are making a difference. Click here to find out about the man behind One, Duncan Goose, his friends and his inspiration.
One supports a unique pump system, the Playpump. It is cleverly designed like a child’s play roundabout – and as the kids play, the water is pumped. This playful system is helping to reduce the time and energy spent working laborious hand pumps, which is traditionally done by the women and children in the village. Currently one Playpump is being installed every three days, One’s goal is to install a pump daily. Then, the children can remain in school and women are free to add further value to their communities.
Retailing or purchasing One is a great way to positively impact a community in need - without making a direct financial contribution to it… Australians currently spend upwards of $385 million dollars on bottled water each year. Knowing that 100% of One’s profits go to such a good cause, why wouldn’t people choose to purchase One?
The One campaign trail will be extremely hot over the next 2 years; point of sale, educational merchandise, celebrity endorsements, radio and print media, and not to mention the publicity along the way will ensure consumers are educated towards One’s plight.
